PAYMENT

Are my payment details secure?

Yes - absolutely. We use Stripe, an online payment gateway and do not store any of your payment information ourselves.

When will I be charged?

As soon as your order is confirmed - this should be immediate if your transaction was successful. 

What payment methods do you accept?

For online payments we accept all debit and credit cards.

Can I pay in cash?

No sorry! For online orders we ask that payment be made online at the time of ordering, this keeps it simple for you and also us. 

DELIVERY

Can I pick up my order?

Yes you can! Just select the pick up option instead of delivery when checking out. You will be able to collect your order from us on your selected day for no additional charge. 

Please note we require a minimum of 30 minutes notice from your time of order to collection. Busy periods may impact this timeframe. If, for any reason, we can't meet your specified pickup time we will be in contact to arrange a different time. 

What days do you dispatch online orders?

Everyday after 2pm!

What are the order cut off times for delivery?

For same day delivery order before 1.30pm that day. All deliveries after this time will be sent the following day, unless otherwise specified.

 If, for any reason, we are unable to deliver your order on your specified day we will get in contact to arrange another day!

What are your delivery zones?

At this stage we can only deliver within the Whanganui urban boundary. See our map here.

How much is delivery?

$5 flat rate or free for orders over $75.

Do you deliver to rural addresses?

At this stage we can only deliver within the Whanganui urban boundary. However, we hope to operate rural collection points to make it a little easier for our customers who may be a little further away to get their HK fix. Keep an eye on our website or social meadia for more details. 

Can you deliver to my work address?

Of course - as long as you are at work during our delivery hours and have enough fridge space to store your meals until you get home!

Does someone need to be home for delivery?

No - we can leave your order somewhere safe at your place for you! Just let us know where you would like us to leave it in the ‘delivery instructions’ when checking out. We don’t recommend leaving it out too long so make sure someone can be home soon to transfer to the fridge/freezer!

I’m missing an item from my order/an item from my order is damaged

Oh no! We do our best to ensure all items are packed and delivered safely so we are extremely sorry your order arrived in less than perfect state. Please get in contact with us immediately so we can sort this out for you right away. 

I’ve placed an order but I’m outside of your delivery zone - what now?

We’re so sorry we’re not delivering to your area just yet! At the moment it is not possible for us to deliver outside of our set delivery zone. One of our team will be in contact shortly to arrange a full refund of your order amount. 

ONLINE

What does 'sold' mean?

If an item is marked as 'sold' it means it's currently sold out but will be back soon! Check back later in the day or the next day and we should have it back in stock online or try your luck and pop in to us, we may have the last little bit in our cabinet or fridge. 

MEAL SIZES

What are the serving sizes of your meals?

Regular: Perfect for 1 person
Large: Perfect for 2 people (or 1 hungry person)

What are family sized meals?

These are larger servings of our most popular dishes - perfect for feeding the whole family! 

What are the different sizes of your family sized meals?

Small: Perfect for 4 people. Served in our oven ready crockery, needs to be returned.

Medium: Perfect for 5-6 people. Served in an oven ready foil dish.

Large: Perfect for 7-8 people. Served in our oven ready crockery, needs to be returned. 

This is a rough guideline and is of course dependent on what else you will be eating and how hungry everyone is! 

How do I order family sized meals?

You can order online right here! Simply select 'Family Size Meals' in our shop dropdown or 'Give Me' section in the shop. Please note: for all family size meals we require advance notice, of at least 1 day, as these are made to order. Once placing your order we will be in contact to confirm and arrange a pickup day and time. 

MENU/DIETARY REQUIREMENTS

How often does your menu change?

Our menu for our prepared meals changes weekly and is updated on Monday afternoon, ready for you to order from there onwards. We do not have a menu for our cabinet food as this changes daily and throughout the day! Our website is kept up to date so you can always check out what we have on here. 

Do you cater for dietary requirements?

We certainly do our best to cater to all dietary requirements! The easiest way to see if we have meals that meet your requirements is to use the category filters on our product page. Simply select the categories relevant to you and any products we have that match your requirements will pop up, from there you can select away. 

If you find we do not have any products that meet your requirements please do not hesitate to get in touch. Our product range is always expanding and changing and we welcome customer feedback! 

MEAL STORAGE/REHEATING

How do I store my meals once delivered?

Our meals can be stored in the fridge if you are wanting to enjoy them fresh the same week. They are also perfect to pop in the freezer if you want to save them for a later date. 

How long do your meals last in the fridge/freezer?

We recommend keeping our meals fresh in the fridge for up to 4 days and in the freezer up to 3 months. 

How do I reheat your meals?

As a general guideline we recommend 2 minutes in the microwave for a regular size and 3 minutes in the microwave for a large size. Our packaging is not oven safe so if you would prefer, transfer your meal into an oven safe dish to heat this way. Easy! 

Can I put your packaging in my microwave/oven?

At this stage our packaging is microwave safe only. Simply remove the lid and heat.

If you would prefer to heat your meal in the oven simply take it out of the original packaging and pop it into your own oven safe dish and you’re good to go! 

SUBSCRITPIONS

How do your subscriptions work?

Our subscriptions are here to make your life even easier! Simply select your subscription, including the size and amount of meals you are wanting and we will deliver these on your preferred day each week. Or you are welcome to collect! 

Can I sign up for a subscription if have a dietary requirement?

Of course! If you have any dietary requirements simply select the 'custom' option under dietary requirements. This is intended for those that have specific dietary requirements, ie keto, gluten free, dairy free, vegan etc that will require custom preparation by our chefs. When you select the 'custom' option you will recieve a selection of HK meals personalized to your dietary requirements for you to enjoy. Please let us know your specific dietary requirement in the special instructions box when checking out. 

Do you have subscriptions for families?

We do not currently offer subscriptions for families, just 1-2 people. You are of course welcome to order one of these options if it suits your requirements or check out our family size meals if you are looking for something a little bigger!

PACKAGING

How can I dispose of your packaging?

We are an environmentally conscious business and our packaging choices reflect this, all of our packaging is either recyclable or compostable. 

  • The base of our containers are compostable or recyclable. 
  • The lids of our containers are recyclable. They are made of recycled PET and are fully recyclable within NZ.
  • Our salad boxes are compostable or recyclable. 
  • Our cutlery is compostable or recyclable 

If you are eating in at HK we have clearly marked recycling and rubbish bins in our front seating area where you can dispose of everything. Our compostables are collected by Easy Earth, a local Whanganui start up and all other recyclables we take to the local recycling centre. 

Why do you only have takeaway packaging?

We are primarily a food to go cafe. We know your time is important and strive to provide the most efficient service possible. That’s why it makes the most sense to us to only provide takeaway containers, so we can make your HK experience convenient for you. 

Can I eat in at HK?

Yes - we love seeing all our customers in at HK! Please be aware we do only have a small seating area so it is not always possible for us to accommodate everyone. There is a lovely park across the road if we happen to be full. 

Can I bring my own keep cup/containers for food?

Of course! We love it when our customers support our planet through sustainable choices. We’ll even give you a bit of a discount to say thanks for doing your bit. 

GIFTS AND VOUCHERS

I want to buy some meals for somebody else, is this possible?

Yes of course! All of our meals are perfect to store in the fridge or freezer so a great gift idea, especially if a friend or family member needs a little bit of extra help or doesn’t feel like cooking at the moment. 

You can order the meals you would like online as normal and enter the recipients delivery details when checking out. If you would like us to include a handwritten note just let us know in the delivery instructions that this is a gift and what you would like the message to say. 

If you would prefer to deliver it yourself that’s no problem! Again, order online as normal and then select the pick up option, rather than delivery, when checking out. 

Do you have vouchers?

We do! Vouchers can be purchased through our online shop or instore. We think they are a perfect gift idea for any occasion! 

If you are purchasing a voucher online we will process your payment online and then send a digital copy of the voucher to your email address. Or you are welcome to collect a physical copy in store. 

How do I redeem a voucher?

Online: You will need a special code. If the voucher has been purchased online this will be included on the digital copy you received. If the voucher was purchased in store get in touch with us and we will sort this out for you. 

Instore: Simply bring it along with you!

Do I have to use the voucher all at once?

No, they can be used all at once or across multiple visits. 

What if the gift voucher amount that I want isn't there?

You can always purchase 2 vouchers to make up the amount you want and then we can add them together for you into 1 physical voucher. For example -  2 x $20 vouchers would make $40 or 1 x $20 and 1 x $50 would make $70. Just let us know in the special instructions box when checking out if you would like us to do this, otherwise we will assume they are 2 seperate vouchers.
