Chai originated in India, where chai simply means tea, in the 1920s. It is traditionally a hot, spiced tea which is boiled on the stovetop with milk. The chai latte is a westernized take on traditional chai tea. Chai lattes are often packed full of added sugars and artificial ingredients that weaken the traditional healing properties of chai. That’s why we make our own spiced chai blend here at HK - so that you are getting maximum flavour and health benefits without any of the nasties!

We use a robust mix of spices for our chai - cinnamon for natural sweetness, ginger and black pepper give the spice, cardamom and cloves give depth and an earthy flavour. We also add a little raw organic sugar to balance the spiciness. These antioxidant rich spices all work together to support your digestive system and keep your gut healthy, along with other health benefits.

Ginger is a key spice used in our chai blend. This spice is known to aid in improving digestive health. It can also help with nausea and aches and pains in your body, including inflammation and headaches.

Black pepper helps the pancreas produce digestive enzymes, which can help speed up the digestive process, helping to prevent gut problems.

Cloves have the highest antioxidant content of any spice! They have antiviral and antibacterial properties and can help alleviate aches and pains.

Cardamom also has digestive superpowers and has a high dose of vitamin C. 

The spices used in our chai blend are the same as those used in the traditional chai tea, we then blend with milk to get the perfect smooth and creamy latte, minus the caffeine. We don’t use tea leaves in our blend so that it remains caffeine free. Our spiced chai latte is the perfect warming brew for days when you need a break from coffee.
